Remodel on lower lick creek Road in Linden TN

How it began

This cabin needed a lot of work done, the clients walked me through their vision and by the end they asked if I could take care of all of it. “easily” I said. this was their first time hiring someone to remodel a home they had purchased. Let alone a home they don’t live in because they bought it while living full time in franklin TN just as a weekend get away. I told them not to worry, usually it is a very stressful endeavor but I had been remodeling homes since I was young so the stress of it is easier for me to deal with.

Everything fell into place and we got it done for them, they wanted poplar shiplap on the walls and I was able to talk them into some extra design ideas along the way. I handled the entire job, hired the subs, ordered the cabinets which took a bit longer than expected but we were able to get it done. At first they wanted another room on the other side but decided against it when we marked out all the walls on the ground with tape so that they could actually see how much space they would have. They decided to take that room out which also had another closet which meant we would need to create a way for them to store more stuff and on top of that the tankless water heater was supposed to go in that closet so we needed to adjust for that. we decided to get an exterior Rinnai tankless water heater. Then we decided not to go all the way to the ceiling with the bathroom so that we could have a storage space for them.

Then one of my favorite moments of this job where they wanted me to find them a ladder so that they could easily get above the bathroom. I ended up finding someone that creates steel structures and he built them a ladder with a place to put wooden steps. I used the leftover shiplap and created poplar steps for the ladder that would be supported by steal so I wasn’t worried about the wood cracking. Then we decided to put celtic knots on the steps that would eventually match the deck I planned to build for them that would also have celtic knots on it. It all came together and they love the place so much that they still reach out to me and tell me how much they love it. In fact they have already hired me back for their second cabin that they want moved and remodeled.
